Brechin Hill

This hillside neighbourhood overlooking Newcastle Island allows you to see everything going on in Departure bay and the docks all along the way to Downtown Nanaimo. The Departure Bay ferry terminal, Nanaimo Yacht Club, Nanaimo Harbour, and the sea plane terminals keep the water hustling and bustling all year.

Its central location means you can get to anywhere in the city with ease, and there are shopping amenities close by at the waterfront, Brooks Landing, and Terminal Mall. Brechin Elementary is right in the neighbourhood, and Wellington Secondary is in nearby Departure Bay. The bus service is alright, but all the hills can be a bit trying if you are walking or riding a bike.

For those wanting to escape the noise of the city, Beach Estates Park is a heavily treed area with paths along the creek leading to the beach. Check out the Chinese Memorial Gardens Park if you’re looking for a bit of culture. If you’re looking to get some air and exercise, there is also Barney Moriez Park, St. George Ravine Park, and the Nanaimo Sea Wall is a great place to walk, run, bike, or rollerblade.

Brechin has a lot going for it; is centrally located to nearby amenities, and there are tons of things to see and do. With older and newer houses available, this is a great place to look for a suitable home for you and your family.
