Upper Lantzville

This quiet area, just outside Nanaimo offers a peaceful lifestyle and opportunity to own acreage while being just a short drive from the stores in Lower Lantzville and North Nanaimo. The views of Nanoose Bay and the Winchelsea Islands can be superb here.

For the avid golfer, the Winchelsea View Golf Course offers 18 holes with challenging slopes and hazards to keep you on your game. If you find the need to change it up, Fairwinds Golf Course is a short, 15 minute drive to Nanoose.

Upper Lantzville also has Green Lake for fishing trout. Fairwinds in Nanoose has an upscale marina catering to pleasure boats. From here, you can spend the day sailing, or head out on a boat to catch Salmon, Rockfish, Crabs, and Prawns. There is also the opportunity to harvest shellfish on some designated beaches in Nanoose. Seasonally, you can fill up a bucket with as many Oysters or Clams as you want, but just make sure to check the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada’s website for closure information first.

Schools can be a bit of a commute from here. Seaview Elementary is the nearest public school located in Lower Lantzville. Many children commute to North Nanaimo’s McGirr Elementary and Dover Bay High School. Lantzville also has Aspengrove, an international baccaloreate JK-12 school for families interested in the private school option.

If you’re looking to hike, the back-country options nearby are pretty much limitless, and the parks further up the island are definitely worth the drive. Englishman River Falls Provincial Park is a must-see, featuring waterfalls cascading into a deep canyon.

If you want to find tranquility and get closer to nature, in Upper Lantzville you can find your own piece of quiet.
